Where it all began?

December 2021

Who Am I?

My name is George and I am the co-founder of Find My Facility. I am a passionate sportsman who played a variety of sports growing up, including football, hockey, tennis, golf and skiing.

In an attempt to diversify my skillset, I even tried trumpet music lessons, but I was terrible and quickly gave it up! I knew that playing sport and staying active was what I used to, and continue to, enjoy.

Staying Active

It is commonly known that staying active contributes to a healthy lifestyle. People lead busy lives and the distractions of the 21st century can often result in a lack of exercise.

However, some of the most successful and healthiest people in the world always make time in their daily routine for regular exercise — healthy body, healthy mind!

But the question I ask you is this: 'is the sports industry doing enough to make sports facilities easily accessible for all customers?'

The Sports Industry Has Some Catching Up To Do...

Over the most recent generation, technology has developed significantly, and the internet has made industries far more accessible for customers.

The so-called 'Sharing Economy' concept has evolved, with people around the world connecting in various ways.

The most obvious is the development of social media during the Internet boom of the late 90s. Facebook and My Space among others were competing for customer attention; more recently Instagram and Snapchat have been competing for the same interest albeit with a different strategy.

These platforms are not limited to the social media industry.

During the same period, the emergence of eBay allowed customers to trade secondhand goods - I like to call it the online car boot sale but I do appreciate it has become more than that as the platform developed.

The Marketplace Effect

Other market sectors have been dominated by these 'Sharing Economy' platforms. Uber for taxis, AirBnB for accommodation, Skyscanner for air travel, Booking.com for hotels. You name it, there usually is a marketplace platform for it (either mobile or web).

Many of these platforms do not 'own' any physical assets. They simply facilitate a transaction between customer and asset owner. That could be taxi drivers, airlines, hotel operators.

With this marketplace concept in mind, try and think of a platform for the sports industry. I certainly can't think of one!

The Vision

Find My Facility aim to make it as easy to book a sports facility as it is to book a taxi.

The Problem: There are significant barriers to booking a sports facility. Nil or outdated booking systems, poorly ranked facility websites, members only access, lack of facility information available on the internet to name a few!

The Solution: A sports marketplace that aggregates all UK sports facilities with enriching information that allows customers to view facility information, contact facilities from within the app, view classes available at local sports facilities, direct linking to book classes in advance.

Maybe you are regular sports player competing at the top of your sport or you're looking to try a sport for the first time.

If you share my vision or experience the problem described above on a regular basis then jump onto the App Store or Google Play to download the app today.

The app currently has over 20,000 UK sports facilities covering 210 different sports, all for FREE!
